Have you ever stopped to ask yourself.. 'Who am I, if I don’t have my symptom'…
I know that seems like an odd thing to say, let me explain.
We get caught up with our symptoms, and often they become part of our identity.
Have you ever listened to someone who has ADHD talk… they often talk about themselves as having it, like it's a central part of their life, and same with some people with depression or anxiety.
“My anxiety is really bad today”, or “my neck pain always gets worse when…”
These statements are when the symptoms become part of your identity. This is not healthy because it means you’ve identified with them and they become more of a permanent fixture.
Many people spend lots of time thinking about their symptoms without realising how life consuming and time consuming it is.
My question for you is, who would you be without it?
Now this seems like a simple question, but if you actually meditate upon this question you will unlock something truly profound and life changing.
Please don't just read this and answer superficially by saying “I would keep being me” or “just happier” - actually go into thought with this. You will thank me if you do because what you discover will shift your life in the most wonderful way.
If anyone has already gone through this and is now on the other side, please share your story in the comments - it will be helpful for other people to know.
