At Inspiring Wellness, I’ve specialised in helping people with anxiety for 12 years. To help put an end to your nighttime panic attacks, I use a few different techniques that address the core issues.
Waking up in the middle of your sleep from a panic attack can be incredibly scary.
This is often made worse by not knowing what is wrong with you.
Both the fear of the panic attack and the worry of not knowing what is going on compound to cause more stress in your physiology.
Panic attacks, in the majority of cases, are caused by the nervous system - both body and mind - being a stress response. Often this is due to an accumulation of tension, built up from traumas and stresses over time.
When we help people with nighttime panic attacks, it’s a very similar process to helping people with panic attacks in general. There are a few things we do differently, but everyone is unique and needs an individualised approach anyway.

At its core, a panic attack has been triggered by the nervous system triggering the fight or flight response or fear response. This is because the nervous system is in what we call a defence physiology.
Since panic attacks, in the majority of cases, are caused by too much stress anchored in the nervous system, you need a very physical, somatic body-based approach.
We help you release the stress and tension that is causing the system to be triggered into a hyper vigilant or stressed out, panic state.
We deal with the root cause, and our intention is to resolve your night panic attacks.

When your body and mind is in a defensive physiology, it causes you to think and feel very differently .
If you’re suffering from nighttime panic attacks and you want to resolve it, you need to work on releasing the tension that is bound in the nervous system. Traditional therapy approaches will not address the tension that is bound in your body.
Breathing techniques are largely unhelpful - because you’re not doing any breathing techniques when you’re asleep! And medication will just cover up the symptoms.
So, you need to work on the root cause - which is the accumulation of stress and trauma.
