"For the first few months I was just in a constant state of amazed disbelief about how significantly the work was able to shift things in me.
Beginning NSA work with you set off some major shifts in me where I was able to release some long held blocks (including past traumas) and found that in a short period of time my physical pain was no longer a problem, my experience of stress in life changed and there were overall positive changes with my energy, sleep and general feeling of wellbeing."
Understanding The Importance of Nervous System Regulation and Stress Management
The Nervous system is the master control centre of the body, made up of neuron's in the brain and spine of various different lengths - some even over a metre long! Have you ever thought something and it created a physiological response, such as..
- Change in heart rhythm or heartburn
- Difficulty breathing or change in breath
- Indigestion or queasy gut
- Tension in body
- Muscle pain
- Sweating
- High blood pressure
- Sleep problems
This is because the neuron's that make up the Nervous system travel to ALL systems of the body:
Respiratory, Cardiovascular, Muscular, Skeletal, Digestive, Urinary, Lymphatic, Endocrine, Reproductive, Integumentary.
This is why it's so important to regulate your Nervous system, because a dysregulated Nervous system can affect all areas of your body.
Stress creates tension in the Nervous system, causing a dysregulated Nervous system, which then goes on to affect all other areas of your body. This is why it's crucial to manage your stress to keep your Nervous system at an optimum state, maintaining a healthy body of 11 different systems all working together through connection and communication via neuron's in your Nervous system.
The Connection Between Nervous System and Stress
When you feel stressed, it puts strain on your Nervous system. This is because your body goes into fight-or-flight, which is the adaptive response for our survival - but, if your fight or flight response is firing off at an inappropriate time, such as when thinking about work, this is not good for the body.
The stress response should only fire off when it is appropriate (such as, if you're about to be attacked) because the adrenaline and cortisol will help you with that boost of energy and give you a higher chance of surviving. These hormones being in higher concentration in your body most days is not healthy for your body - and all that energy wasted being in fight-or-flight starts to feel draining and can manifest in many different symptoms that are destructive to your wellbeing.
Techniques For Calming Your Nervous System and Reducing Stress
Mind-Body Connection: How It Works
The body and the mind is like two sides of the same coin. The Nervous system has neurons that travel from the brain and throughout the whole body.
So, when you think a certain way, it will create a certain physiological response. And in the same way, if your body goes into a stress response, this will cause your mind to think stressful thoughts... and the cycle continues.
This all links back to the Nervous system being the master control centre of the body, communicating with all systems of the body. Certain impulses fired off in the neuron's in your brain (eg. a stressful thought) will cause those same types of energetic impulses (stress-induced impulses) to be fired off in other areas of your body. This is why you must work with both your body and your mind for reducing stress in your life.
To work on your body, we use a technique called Network Spinal Analysis. This is the most safest, effective technique for releasing tension out of the body. To work on your mindset, we use Design Human Engineering strategies and Reorganisational Healing concepts. These are very effective at developing a growth mindset and understanding the significance of how you think and retraining your destructive thoughts to be constructive.

"What I love most about the care that Dov offers is that he works directly with the way I store tension in my body to release that tension. That in combination with addressing the thinking aspect of how I do life works like magic!
The effects are long term rather than just being situational and he has taught me techniques that I am able to implement in a multitude of situations – forever onwards."
What Is Network Spinal Analysis?
Network Spinal Analysis (NSA)
is an evidence based technique that evolved from chiropractic. Instead of using manipulation and forcing the spine to go back into alignment, NSA utilises very specific areas of the spine - usually around the top of the spine (C1, C2, C3, C4, C5) or near the bottom (Sacram or Coccyx) - to help your body become self aware of where there is tension or subluxation (misalignment of the vertebrae), and gradually heal and self correct the spine back into alignment.
There are 5 different ways where the body holds tension. The area of where the practitioner makes the contacts along the spine depends on what tension pattern you're in or how your spine is holding tension.
NSA is completely safe and gentle, and is the most natural way to bring your Nervous system back to its optimum state, free of tension.
How Network Spinal Analysis Calms The Nervous System And Reduces Stress
When gentle contacts are made to the specific areas of your spine, this cues your brain to find where your body is holding tension and releases that tension in a constructive way - often through movement, breath or emotion.
Your brain becomes self aware of the tension patterns in your spine, and as that self awareness develops throughout the journey of NSA care, you're able to naturally release tension. Sometimes, your body will naturally self correct subluxations in the spine and realign itself.
When one is in a state of stress, the reptilian part of the brain is on. This is around the midbrain, and your reactive fight-or-flight response is switched on.
When you have NSA care, the prefrontal cortex starts becoming more active, and blood flow increases to the outer cortex - so your brain health improves. This is why your body is able to get out of the stress response, as different parts of your brain become more active.
A lot of people who have gone through NSA care have said to us: "Things that used to stress me out, don't seem to affect me anymore".
The Process of Network Spinal Analysis
NSA is a process that takes time. It's different for every individual, but a rough estimate would be about 12 weeks to fully reset the Nervous system, however people can start noticing changes within the first 6-10 sessions. Just like going to the gym, you wouldn't expect to see the results you wanted after a few gym sessions!
The results are definitely worth it. Other than the obvious benefits of having a regulated, calm Nervous system, there are also many side benefits of NSA - many of which are actually connected to having a healthy Nervous system.
Retraining your Nervous system needs consistent repetition so it becomes a habit - just like with any new behaviour or strategy, you need be consistent with it to create that new habitual pattern within your Nervous system. If you put the time and effort in, the outcome is incredibly worth it.
Mindset Techniques for Nervous System Regulation and Stress Management
As mentioned previously, it is essential to work with your mindset as well as your body. If we release all the tension out from your Nervous system and then you go and think all these destructive stressful thoughts, this will just create more tension in your system again!
To retrain your mindset, we utilise concepts and techniques from Design Human Engineering and Reorganisational Healing which helps you develop a growth mindset.
