A lot of people with Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD) believe that they are just anxious people. Somehow, anxiety is part of their DNA or part of their personality. Often they have already tried therapy, talking to a counsellor or psychologist, and medication. Some have even tried a range of breathing and relaxation techniques to little or no success.
A few people are satisfied with the fact that these techniques help them manage their anxiety. However, many people who talk to me say nothing has worked and because of this, they believe that it is just ‘who they are’. They believe they have to learn to live with their anxiety for the rest of their lives…
This is simply NOT TRUE.
Frequently, people with Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD) come to see me and are very surprised at how quickly they start feeling better.
The first thing they notice is far less tension in their body and mind, or they feel more open and at peace in their body. This can feel a bit strange to them as most people have not felt this relaxed or worry-free for many years. It’s an unfamiliar but also a very pleasant shift.
Since generalised anxiety, in the majority of cases, is caused by too much stress anchored in the nervous system, you need a very physical, somatic body-based approach.
We help you release the stress and tension that is causing the system to be triggered into a hyper vigilant or stressed out, anxious state.

We work on retraining your mindset from defensive into growth. Using strategies and concepts from Design Human Engineering and Reorganisational Healing, you're able to develop a growth mindset by breaking destructive thought patterns and seeing new perspectives.
Body
A very important aspect of overcoming Generalised Anxiety is working with the body. We release all the accumulated tension from past stresses and traumas that's built up in your Nervous system, and teach your body new strategies to respond to life's stresses in a more constructive way.
Why do we get such amazing results and why do we get them so quickly?
We see anxiety in a very different way, therefore we address it in a different way. We don’t believe that anxiety is a mental illness, but rather a nervous system response caused by too much stress.
When placed under too much stress, the sympathetic nervous system (fight or flight ‘switch’) can remain on, even when there are no immediate stressors or dangers. The body still remains in a mode when it feels it needs to protect itself.
Now with the body being stuck in fight or flight mode all the time, it changes many things - from your thoughts and feelings to your posture and breathing. This is because your physiology is altered. Too much stress can become very dangerous to your health. Often, the first warning sign that your stress levels are getting dangerously high are the symptoms of anxiety.
Anxiety is all about too much stress in the nervous system
So we address your anxiety by working with your nervous system and turning ‘off’ the fight or flight switch. We then teach both your body and mind strategies to respond differently to stresses in the future so you become more resilient and more resourceful. So, in a situation when you would normally automatically go into worry, you will find yourself seeing things in a new, calmer, happier way.
