What Type Of Anxiety Do You Have?

Anxiety comes in many different forms, affecting a wide variety of people. For New Zealanders, anxiety is on the rise, meaning more people are being affected every year. As a result more people are seeking help and will often end up with a label of what type of anxiety they have. The main labels or ways we group anxiety are Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Panic Disorder, Social Anxiety, and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

However, knowing what type you have does not really help you deal with it. All it does is give you a nicer, more fitting/specific label.

 

At Inspiring Wellness, we think about it in a slightly different way.  Instead of being quick to label you with the same questions a doctor or psychologist would ask you, I would much rather ask you.

Do you have the type of anxiety that?

  • that you can't ignore?
  • that has bought you to the point in which you are ready for a change?
  • that you are fed up with?
  • that you have learnt to live with but don't enjoy?
  • that is consuming you? or
  • that is becoming the biggest focus point in your life?
  • that is getting worse over time?

I have helped many people with all types of anxiety get well, and by that I mean they no longer suffer from anxiety. Most people who come to me have tried other things first like drugs, counselling/psychology and breathing techniques. Some had fancy labels from the experts, but did not get any results and so remain stuck. We helped them make a shift where others were unable to because we work in a unique way. We have a new way of looking at anxiety and it is all to do with the nervous system.

As you can imagine, you will not resolve your anxiety by reading about it, any more than you can get fit by thinking about exercising. However, reading something can inspire you to take action and do something new that will result in a healthier, happier you.
